Dato’ Dr Tikfu Gee holds a Masters In Surgery (Malaysia) and is a Fellow In Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery (France). Having had a keen interest in surgery since he was in medical school and as soon as he graduated 19 years ago, he joined the department of surgery to pursue a career as a surgeon. He had the privilege to work in Hospital Kuala Lumpur which is the largest tertiary hospital in Malaysia where he gained his surgical experience in general surgery and minimally invasive surgery. He is currently the Head of Surgery at the hospital. He is also academically inclined, having lectured and taught at Universiti Putra Malaysia, as well as given various talks and presentations in national, regional and international conferences and has a number of publications in local and international journals. In addition, he is the editor-in-chief for 2 medical books related to burns management and clinical nutrition. He is in the process of writing a minimally invasive surgery book. In the field of metabolic and bariatric surgery, Dato’ Dr Tikfu Gee is one of the pioneers of this field and has performed the largest number of surgeries on obesity and metabolic disorders in Malaysia. He performs a variety of procedures including laparoscopic Roux-en Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB), Sleeve Gastrectomy (SG), Greater Curvature Plication (GCP), adjustable gastric band (LAGB) and Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Jejunal Bypass (SADJB). He also performs non surgical procedures like the intra-gastric balloon.
