Dr. Maki Sugimoto is a surgeon, entrepreneur, and innovator. He is a Japan Surgical Society official certified doctor, a Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society certified doctor, and a Japan Society for Endoscopic Surgery certified endoscopic surgical skill qualified surgeon. He wanted to leverage the precision depicted in medical images to enable better surgery. He is a cofounder of Holoeyes Inc. which is developing an Extended Reality (XR:VR/AR/MR) and Metaverse platform for surgical simulation, navigation, education, and training. He is also the inventor of Holoeyes MD, a Japanese PMDA approved medical device for remote imaging and communicating service in metaverse.
