Siow Sze Li Hospital Umum Sarawak

Dr. Siow Sze Li is the President of the College of Surgeons at the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. He leads the General Surgery Department and Day Care Service at Sarawak General Hospital, with expertise in minimally invasive gastrointestinal, bariatric, and hernia surgery. Dr. Siow's pioneering work in Sarawak includes setting up laparoscopic and bariatric services, as well as conducting Malaysia's first single-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy. He also devised innovative techniques, such as "focused sequential lavage," for laparoscopic repair of perforated peptic ulcers. Dr. Siow earned his MBBS at Monash University in Melbourne and his Master of Surgery at the University of Malaya. He trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery in Bordeaux, France, under Professor Jean-Louis Duluq. Dr. Siow also holds several academic positions, serving as an adjunct professor, part-time lecturer, and examiner for medical programs. He is a reviewer for numerous medical journals and actively promotes surgical research and innovation. His commitment to advancing minimally invasive surgery and providing excellent patient care has earned him widespread recognition in his field.
