Dr. Thanesh Kumar had his medical education from Universiti Sains Malaysia (MD). He then successfully obtained Masters in General Surgery (MS) from Universiti Malaya in 2015, Fellowship from Edinburgh (FRCS) in 2017 & Fellowship from American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 2022. He also completed his subspecialty training in Hepatopancreatobiliary or HPB surgery from Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2021.
Dr. Thanesh was posted in Hospital Queen Elizabeth as General Surgeon since 2015. He subsequently pursued his subspeciality training in HPB Surgery and worked in HPB units in Hospital Umum Sarawak, Hospital Selayang and Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar. After his training, he is posted as HPB consultant in Department of Surgery, QEH.
Dr. Thanesh is currently a member of societies like MMA, MyHPBS, IHPBA and Academy of Medicine Malaysia. He serves as Committee & Editorial Board Member of MyHPBS. He is an invited lecturer in University Malaysia Sabah, trainer for General Surgery Masters candidate, HBP Subspeciality Fellowship & examiner for MRCS examination in Malaysia.
